Did you know?

There are some really special “did-you-know’s” about food, and I’m going to tell you the most unheard ones, and you’re going to be amazed.

° We all know the most famous insta vegetable… AVOCADO! I’s a delicious vegetable with a lot of proteins and we people do eat a lot of it.. But don’t feed it on birds because it’s extremely toxic for winged animals. Just enjoy your toast with avocado and poached eggs by yourself 😉

° Everybody knows chocolate and almost everybody loves chocolate! And there’s a very logic reason for.. Because when you eat chocolade, there releases a chemical substance named ‘endorphins’ which create a happy and lucky feeling. So.. what do we have to do? EAT CHOCOLATE!!!

° Another Foodfact that you probably didn’t know is that those little holes in crackers will provide that the crackers don’t break while they’re baking.

° There is one food product that never expires, ant that product is honey. They discovered a pot of honey in 1922 in the tombe of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun, that pot of honey was tested by biologists en professed as ‘perfect for consumption’.

° I think we al like colorful food. But those dyes are not good for kids, and especially the red or yellow dyes. Those dyes make kids hyperactive. ! Not Recommended !

I hope you guys learned something by reading this blog!

My favourite dish

On a lazy Sunday morning I like to sleep a bit longer and eat my favourite dish of all time. I’m sure you guys will probably have heard of it and if you didn’t.. SHAME ON YOU

I’m talking about the famous ‘American Pancakes’. You can create them in a way you like them the most, you can use different toppings, other syrups, candy, fruit … Everything YOU like (and go crazy!!)

My favourite way of the American Pancakes is with hot chocolate sauce and banana, not that special but once you’ve tasted it.. you’ll understand why it’s my favourite dish.

Everybody loves pancakes (or at least the most of you) just like me, and certainly when they’re fluffy like the clouds…
And the combination of chocolate and banana is just heavenly!

Let’s start with the ingredients:
– 200 grams all-purpose flower
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
– 1 vanilla stick
– 3 deciliters milk + extra
– 50 grams butter + extra
– 1 egg
– a pinch of salt
– 1 banana
– 50 grams dark chocolate

! First of all, you have to measure every ingredient exactly, otherwise you American Pancakes won’t be fluffy and that’s quite an important characteristic of an American pancake!

  1. Take the mixing bowl of the food processor and add: the flour, the baking powder, the vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt.
  2. Cut the vanilla stick in two lengthwise. Scrape all seeds from the pod halves with a knife tip. Add them to the mixing bowl with dry ingredients.
  3. TIP You can put the pods of the vanilla pod in a jar of sugar. After a while you will get delicious homemade vanilla sugar. It’s a small effort.
  4. Place a pan on a low heat and melt the butter in it.
  5. Measure the right amount of milk. Add the egg and beat it in the milk. Also pour in the melted butter.
  6. Place the pot with flour & co in the food processor. Let the machine run at medium speed.
  7. Gradually pour in the mixture of milk, egg and butter. Continue until you obtain a level fitting. Then use a pancake to stir the batter thoroughly, so that there are no lumps in the batter. Let the machine mix afterwards – and if necessary – the batter briefly.
  8. Optional You can sprinkle some slices of banana in the pancake mixture. Keep aside the rest of the banana slices.
  9. Heat a frying pan or frying pan on a medium to high heat.
  10. Use a little bit of the extra butter to grease your pan.
  11. Use a small ladle to pour the batter from the pancakes into the pan. Pour pancakes of about 12 cm diameter into the hot pan.
  12. Let the underside bake golden brown and turn each pancake over.
  13. Take a little little bowl and put the chocolate and the extra milk in it. Now place that bowl into the microwave for 2 minutes and stir.
  14. Take a plate, build a tower of pancakes, cover them with the hot chocolate sauce and finish with the slices banana.
  15. ENJOY!

My favourite restaurant

Hi there!

Imagine… You’re on vacation in a tropical island, white beaches, a clear blue ocean, palm trees and a cocktail in your hand… You’re watching the beautiful coloured sunset and you’re starting to get hungry, where do you go? I know a very good restaurant in Porto. It’s a city in Portugal not at the coast but the restaurant will compesate everything.

The great restaurant I’m talking about is TAPABENTO, it’s a tapas restaurant but not just a regular tapas bar with olives and chorizo. There working with fresh products so their dishes are very qualitatively.

Another asset is their staff. Everybody is very kind, you have your personal waiter and he helps you with picking dishes, because you as a food lover might know that eating too much tapas is not discoverable. And not speaking Portuguese isn’t an obstacle so you can just enjoy the glory of TAPABENTO.

Not only their delicious food and friendly staff are an argument to eat at TAPABENTO. Their location is a benefit because they are located in the center of Porto so you can go to it by feet. It’s not in the busy part of the center so you can enjoy your food in an quiet environment. And if you’re lucky you can have a table on the balcony.

I hope you’ll enjoy TAPABENTO as much as I did!
